Initial proposal (unit 5)

My initial idea is to make a panel podcast with a few friends speaking about football.

I feel its a good topic to make a podcast about as there a lot that we can speak about and it can reach out to a wide audience.

i could talk about different leagues, different clubs and many more things as football is such a massive thing.

Also by having a panel you can get a few different point of views and there would be more discussion than if it were just you and one other person.

I would lead the podcast but allow the rest of the people in it to have time to speak and talk about what they wanted to.

the purpose of the podcast will probably be more entertainment than to inform. i plan on speaking abut the recent Sheffield derby or the championship all round which both of the teams from Sheffield are in.

The target audience would be fans of either teams or just fans of football i general. i think they would find it interesting to hear different peoples point of views.

News values my project could include

  •  Negativity
  • personalisation
  •  conflict
  • time constraints
  • predicability
  • Entertainment
  • Bad news
  • Good news

Editors Code

The Code – including this preamble and the public interest exceptions below – sets the framework for the highest professional standards that members of the press subscribing to the Independent Press Standards Organisation have undertaken to maintain. It is the cornerstone of the system of voluntary self-regulation to which they have made a binding contractual commitment. It balances both the rights of the individual and   the public’s right to know.

To achieve that balance, it is essential that an agreed Code be honoured not only to the letter, but in the full spirit. It should be interpreted neither so narrowly as to compromise its commitment to respect the rights of the individual, nor so broadly that it infringes the fundamental right to freedom of expression – such as to inform, to be partisan, to challenge, shock, be satirical and to entertain – or prevents publication in the public interest.

It is the responsibility of editors and publishers to apply the Code to editorial material in both printed and online versions of their publications. They should take care to ensure it is observed rigorously by all editorial staff and external contributors, including non-journalists.

Editors must maintain in-house procedures to resolve complaints swiftly and, where required to do so, co- operate with IPSO. A publication subject to an adverse adjudication must publish it in full and with due prominence, as required by IPSO.

How i wont breach editors code

The main things i will look out for to make sure i dontt breach the editors code are privacy and accuracy.

Accuracy would mean that everything that is mentioned in the podcast is true and is factually correct. For example if we were to talk about something that is rumoured but in the end wasn’t true then there could be consequences such as legal action for defamation.

How will you introduce your podcast?

You could write a script for this part of your podcast

e.g. Say who you are.

Introduce myself as the host and the panel who are joining me on the podcast.

What are you going to be talking about?

Talking about football. Mainly championship and local teams like wed and utd

Purpose of the podcast?

Purpose is to debate and inform and entertain people who are listening.

Who are the participants / guests / interviewees?

Me and 3 or 4 from class still TBD

Intro music jingle

Do you want to use music and, if so, what type of music? How will you access the music? How will you use it?

What feel do you want?

Want it to feel like a debate show or a radio talk show so doesn’t really have to have sound effect or chart music included.

Which music will you use?

Will probably use a 15 second jingle that I can find on the internet that wont breach copyright, nothing specific. I will use the website below to try and find some appropriate intro music.

You can find copyright free music from incompetech.com or audionautix.com.

Your jingle could play under your intro tag.

How will you avoid copyright issues?

I will avoid copyright issues by doing research on any song that I like and that I would like to use. I will use websites such as the ones above that have a selection of copyright free music on.

Show topic / content

The main content

Discuss your podcast content in more detail – about the topic of the podcast.

–          Will speak about English football epl,champ l1, l2.

–          Speak about local teams sheff wed and utd

–          Recent steel city derby

–          Look more in depth to the championship

Which questions do you want to ask? List the questions here.

How do you want each participant to contribute?

I would like to lead the conversation but like the panel to have a decent contribution. Would like a vary of opinions so that there good discussion going on and wouldn’t mid some arguments as that would keep listeners interested.

I don’t just want it to be interviewing them reeling questions off at them. I would like them to be able questions to the panel aswell.

Is there a particular conclusion that you want to reach?

Don’t really want a specific ending to the podcast I just want it to be a good 20-30 minute discussion and when I feel like it needs to be ended then I will wrap the conversation up.

15 – 20 mins
Tone / mood What effect are you aiming for?

Humour?
